Portrait of Alex

Not this is not me. She's a daughter of one of my co-workers and I just found out later that her name's Alex too. I was asked to do a portrait of her and I thought I'd like to use it as to test the print quality of a local print shop. I will find it out today hopefully and see how it turns out.
(Update: Finally I've made my first portrait sale today, I am totally excited! So is my co-worker. He did say there will be more to come, I can't wait ^^)
(9x11" Strathmore Bristol Vellum 300lb, Graphite and a bit of ink)
(The initial stage before I worked on her hair, which was really time consuming)

I apologize for the absence of my posts lately. It's been a really hectic time for me and I do wish that things could get easier. But perhaps from now onwards I'll have a little time and space to do more artwork.

Thank you all so much for your comments. =)

  4. Hi Alex,

If this is how your pencils work after you've let them cry for awhile, maybe I should let mine have a good cry. *grin*

Lovely, as usual, and so nice to "see" you again,

    xoxo

  11. Alex, its great to see you back posting : ) Its a really good portrait and I like how you added just a touch of colour to it and left everything else, it just gives that extra punch to it. The hair is wonderful and so is her eyes.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments, I know I have been bad with answering back, just so darn busy around here. But thank you so much, they mean a lot : )

  22. Super nice work! Too bad you can't earn a large enough salary with your drawing but I have a feeling the income would be far below the job you have now. Life isn't fair too often. How's your new kitty doing?

  24. Congratulations on making the sale. I find that creating art that others enjoy is very gratifying, but when someone likes it enough to buy, then that's a bonus. Hope you get many more commissions for your awesome work.

  31. that's an excellent portrait. I cant believe you haven't sold more. WHat I like is that its not a traditional angle/view you would use for a portrait. Lots of warmth in it.
