Meela

I have a hectic schedule. I had to drive back to Louisiana to drop off the car, and me and my brother-in-law drove back on the same day. It was 5am in the morning September 30th, and by the time we got back home it was 2am October 1st. While I was in Louisiana I met with my publisher and revised 3 pages of the blacklines and with hope, it's finalized for good.
And then on Sunday, October 3rd, we drove to Nashville and back to get this girl, Meela. =)
(Moleskine Sketchbook 3.5x5.5")

She's a British Shorthair, and close to 5 months old as of today. She's very playful, but very quiet, and has got a pair of beautiful amber eyes. She follows people around like a little puppy, and she sleeps like a champ. After sketching Bosco and Athena, I thought that I should at least sketch our own pet. Hopefully this won't be the last, and I'll try to do more of her as she grow to be bigger each day.
I'll start my 7days-in-a-row 12hour shift tomorrow, won't have time to sketch until afterwards. Happy drawing everyone and thank you all so much for your comments and remarks.
(Update on Athena post : The owner almost cried receiving the portrait of her little puppy. Too bad I wasn't there to witness it, but I am deeply gratified)

  8. Aw...what a sweet little thing! Well done! Seven straight days of 12 hr shifts???? Wow! Well, I hope you get through it with ease and make time for art when you can. So many people don't have jobs at all, so there are worse things!

  9. When I saw the title of your post, I thought, I wonder if it's another dog? You surprised me - it's a cat! Wonderful that you have a cat again - beautifully drawn. Sketch all those mechanical thingamajigs at work during the next 7 days, ok? Your boss won't mind..really.

It's also wonderful that you were able to move Athena's owner so deeply with your depiction! Must have been a great feeling!

  14. Yay, you have a new cat! Great drawings of her too.

I remember driving from Florida to just north of Chicago in one long night. My husband let me run to the restroom while he filled the gas tank. It was not fun! And who knew Chicago had so much traffic at 3a.m.? I do not envy you your drive you just made. That kind is no fun at all! At least you got a kitty and I have to admit, the drive I took let me visit my son who was stationed in the Nave there in Florida so that part was good.

  17. Hello Alex,
What wonderful artwork. You have a fantastic talent.
Seven twelve hour shifts...phew! I hope the work isn't too hard. On the other hand, if it is a job where you are not moving a lot you could just fall asleep - not sure which is worse. But like Raena says, you could be without a job - now that would be worse.
    Great work Alex.
    Stew.

  21. What an absolute cutie! I'll be getting a cat from the pound at the end of the year (no kitten for me, I like to give one or two older cats a home) and I can't wait to have a furry thing in the house again (lost both my beloved cats in the past year, sigh). Enjoy the new member of your family!

  23. So cute. British short hairs are lovely. So round & cuddly. I was once out driving & saw a Rolls Royce with Union Jacks hanging from it everywhere. It was in front of a British Shorthair cat show. I went in & there were more Union Jacks & all the owners were standing around drinking champagne. They loved to talk about their cars.
