Ann

A friend of mine asked me to do a sketch of her niece. I held it back for a while now because so much had happened I couldn't find the time to do it. But I finally did it yesterday, and it took me about 90 minutes total(not too many details).

I don't really know much about her, except that her name is Ann, and the picture my friend gave me was taken when Ann was just 4, she's 7 years old now. I did however drew her older on purpose, but I am not too sure if it worked. I guess we'll see.

Thank you all for your comments, your kind thoughts, and your compassion. It'd be my cousin's 45th birthday today, so I'm wishing my cousin an awesome birthday in heaven :)

Update : Here's the latest photo of Ann taken by my friend(unfortunately she's not smiling). I think I was pretty close, what do you think?

    1. Thank you Vicki. Yeah... it's hard losing a cousin who's more like a sister and a friend. But she's not suffering anymore and that's good.

  2. I just love how you are able to create such amazing texture and shine to hair, and her eyes are really good. Its a bit softer drawing that you usually do, it gives it a more dreamy feel to it, very nice!!!

Its hard to lose someone so close to you, but you're keeping her alive in such a beautiful memories and tributes.

    1. :) I really appreciate your observation Mari. I did do a softer version this time round, I figured that i would want to go easy with the values this time..and in future sketches too.

Yeah...I am sure my cousin is having lots of fun up there. =) It's a lot better missing her this way.

  6. It's very pretty. I hope they send you an updated photo so you can see how close you came to doing her current age.

I'll bet your cousin is enjoying her day in heaven. Then again maybe they celebrate the date of death as the birthday up there but either way, I hope you enjoy your memories of her today - a bittersweet day for sure.
