Bad Wrist

Thought I would take up last week's EDM Challenge, #269 Something Annoying.
I've never had a wrist problem, but for the passed 2 weeks it's been bad. I tried Bengay, and those Heating pads, they don't do much good. I tried the wrist guard for 2 days straight, seems like the pain only gets sharper. I drew this while I had my wrist guard on. Tanna asked "are you going to color it?" I said sure why not ^^ I struggled through the whole thing in sharp pain every once in a while. It's not my usual style, but it's something I don't mind having in my journal.
Thank you all for your comments on my sketch on Oni. He's getting bigger now and very vicious. He'd hide and charge at you when you are passing by, leaping with his claws aimed at you, like a tiger...but he's just a kitten so no harm was caused ^^

  5. I really hope your wrist feels better, Love. I really like the colors and the fact that you drew something you wouldn't normally draw.

    Keep up the awesome work!

  9. Sorry about your pain! Hope it leaves soon. I'll have to go looking for your cat postings. I've been swamped and have had a hard time keeping up with everyone's posts! But great drawing!

  13. Great drawing of a painful subject!

I had issues a few years back and was in a brace like that for weeks and I can honestly say that I think the brace was worse than the pain sometimes. Ugh! I feel for you! (Have you tried ibuprofen?)

    Hope it heals soon!

  14. I had something like this back in college. The doctors talked surgery, but I went to a chiropractor and he got rid of it in three days. And, because I knew what he did, every time I feel it coming back, I fix it myself. (He popped my shoulder, elbow, then wrist...it would be too hard to describe how!) Wonderful sketch of your poor hand! Did you do it with your non-dom?

  16. Your drawing is excellent, and does show pain.
In the workshop I give at the hospital, one participant has the same sort of thing around the wrist and even some fingers. She likes using the Chinese brush because it is so light and no need for a lot of pressure to have a mark on the paper.
You could try poses of Oni the tiger in ink and Chinese brush.
    Hope your feeling better soon.

  19. Oh, so sorry to hear about your wrist! It does sound annoying. Have you had a doctor look at it? I'd say give it a rest and take the challenge to draw with your other hand for a while ;)
The drawing is great. Awesome colors too!
    Hope you'll feel better soon!

PS: Oni really DOES sound a lot like Kiwi. She's doing the same vicious thing, hiding and jumping at and chasing you and stuff. Don't want to destroy any hopes but she's still doing it now at age 7 ;D

  20. Nice interpretation! And I can see why it is annoying! Hope you get better, would hate to see you having to stop drawing.... ;)

Read somewhere you are a power plant engineer btw. Got a little curious at what you do since I am in a related business... I am an R&D engineer at an energy utility company :)

  23. Yep, I can totally see how that would be annoying! Nice interpretation of the challenge, and nice sketch.

  24. That is a nice drawing. I know what you mean about wrist pain. My whole body locked up one time. I scooted to the car. I got, the Big needle in the Right hand. After all of this - they gave me Bayer aspirin. They said it was a serious Tenditis episode. Has never come back. So, I hope yours leaves soon.
Love the coloring - "Hate the thought of your pain."

  25. Thank you all for your wishes and comments. With so much love from EDM and my wife, it's really impossible not to get well soon. But I am speaking the truth though, I am really feeling better, less pain, and my sister from Malaysia assured me that it's nothing serious(like any bone or nerve related nasty problems), and probably just a torn muscle, which I can deal with.
    I'll be alright ^^
Speaking of which, I still haven't got the chance to draw the small town that's nearest to where I live. I hope I'll be able to do that pretty soon.

  26. So sorry about your wrist pain. The drawing is great, though! Love the comic book style, so neat!
I don't know how you hurt your wrist, but I know that for inflammation, a lot of water, rest/ good positioning, no ham/pork, work quite well. Hope you get well soon. And please scratch Oni behind the ears for me (he's too cute!)

  27. Oh no Alex! Your drawing is so excellent that I can feel how much that wrist hurts. I am glad to hear it is getting better.
