Cat's Eye

I am sorry for not posting last week. It had been a hectic week helping out my friend Iceman with his projects and datelines, but it was all fun =) there despite being depressed due to being rejected for the position I applied in Mississippi. I really had a lot of hopes there, but at least I was the top 3 of all candidates applying for the similar position.
I won't have a lot of time this week as well, as I'll be heading to Texas tomorrow for an interview near Waco on Thursday. It'll be an interesting 7+hour scenic drive with my wife, and we'll be back by the end of the week.
So here's a quick one which I did on my Moleskine. I am not sure what I was doing, I just wanted to draw a cat's eye(I'm always looking into my cat's eyes to see if I could find Lord Sauron there ^^) and I think they are pretty, and of course I got carried away with the colors again.
Thank you all for your comments on Hayley. I really appreciate them all, and I'll try to keep my blog theme alive... a drawing a week, and make it at least 54 a year.

  1. All I see when I look into my kitty's beautiful blue eyes are "feed me - NOW". Beautiful kitty eye and I love the colors. It is fun to get carried away at times and this works. Good luck on your job hunt.

  4. This is wonderful, Alex....the colours are lively and the lettering is a really nice compliment.

Btw, I'm sorry you didn't get the job in Mississippi but I firmly believe when one door closes, another one opens so good luck for the Texas interview.

  5. This eye is amazing! Besides the colors of the fur, you can actually see the clear cornea of the eye. Well done, my friend! Good luck with the Texas job - the folks in Miss. really lost out when they chose someone else. Their loss. nancy

  7. Thank you all!
And by the way, the cat I drew is not my cat ^^ My cat would have shredded my fingers into pieces if I carry him for an hour like that. And he's perfectly fine =)
I'll try to break a leg in that interview! ;)

  8. Fabulous eye. Your ability to add reflections actually makes the cornea look moist - like it really is!

  9. Wow! This is crazy good, Alex!!!

By the way, I've been meaning to mention that I grew up in Beaumont, TX, which I don't think is all that far from you. I know you've mentioned before that you live in Southern Louisiana somewhere. It's a small world, isn't it? :)

  11. What fascinates me is the eye itself - so much interest - so many colors! Very nice!

And, btw, I got your card - I wanted to let you know sooner, but have been so busy. It is excellent - bigger than I expected, great picture of course (the one I wanted), it opens(!), and thank you so much for the personal note (so unexpected)! You too are an awesome friend and I look forward to the day when we can meet.

Sorry to hear about the job in Mississippi, but don't worry- you always seem to have such positive energy- it won't take long before somebody realizes that and snaps you up for a new position. And that's awesome that you get to take a drive out to Waco with your wife. Mini road trip!!

  23. Hi Alex, STUNNING cats eye. You do this with felt tip pen? The colors of the eye have the opal, mysterious quality I think of with cat's eyes. Nicely done.

    Good luck with your interview.
