Not this is not me. She's a daughter of one of my co-workers and I just found out later that her name's Alex too. I was asked to do a portrait of her and I thought I'd like to use it as to test the print quality of a local print shop. I will find it out today hopefully and see how it turns out.
(Update: Finally I've made my first portrait sale today, I am totally excited! So is my co-worker. He did say there will be more to come, I can't wait ^^)
(9x11" Strathmore Bristol Vellum 300lb, Graphite and a bit of ink)
(The initial stage before I worked on her hair, which was really time consuming)
I apologize for the absence of my posts lately. It's been a really hectic time for me and I do wish that things could get easier. But perhaps from now onwards I'll have a little time and space to do more artwork.
Thank you all so much for your comments. =)
Beautiful, Alex
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm a fan of your portraits ;-)
Wishes!
Wonderful portrait, Alex. But I really thought it was going to be a self-portrait!
ReplyDeleteYep, you tricked me, too! This is a lovely portrait of a lovely girl. I know what you mean about time-consuming hair, but you did a beautiful job with it. nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Alex,
ReplyDeleteIf this is how your pencils work after you've let them cry for awhile, maybe I should let mine have a good cry. *grin*
Lovely, as usual, and so nice to "see" you again,
xoxo
Oh, my my my...this portrait is simply "divine"! xD
ReplyDeleteNice job capturing the girl in the photo you showed me. Absolutely nailed her!
Wonderful portrait! Even though SHE wasn't whom I expected to see when I clicked on your link LOL..
ReplyDeleteYou did a brilliant job of this portrait of "another" Alex!! The expression on her face is coy and so charming!! I hope the prints do this masterpiece justice!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Alex. The facial expression is great.
ReplyDeleteOh, you are a trickster. Wonderful, wonderful portrait.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Alex, this portrait is fantastic! Wonderfully and sensitively drawn!
ReplyDeleteAlex, its great to see you back posting : ) Its a really good portrait and I like how you added just a touch of colour to it and left everything else, it just gives that extra punch to it. The hair is wonderful and so is her eyes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving your comments, I know I have been bad with answering back, just so darn busy around here. But thank you so much, they mean a lot : )

ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait, Alex! (You had me fooled--I was expecting a self-portrait!) Nice to visit your blog again. I wish you well on your job and hope you have more time for art soon, but life has its seasons...and the season for art will always be waiting for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm such a fan of your style & work. Lovely! Nice job! I do understand about hearing your pencils crying. It is such a sad sound.
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing! You really captured her personality!

Great portrait Alex
ReplyDeleteNice work Alex! Love that splash of colour on the t-shirt too.

Super nice work! Too bad you can't earn a large enough salary with your drawing but I have a feeling the income would be far below the job you have now. Life isn't fair too often. How's your new kitty doing?
ReplyDeleteAlex, I'm thrilled for you. Way to go! I can't wait to see what you do next,
ReplyDeletexoxo
Congratulations on making the sale. I find that creating art that others enjoy is very gratifying, but when someone likes it enough to buy, then that's a bonus. Hope you get many more commissions for your awesome work.
ReplyDeleteAlex, huge congrats on the sale!

ReplyDeletethat's an excellent portrait. I cant believe you haven't sold more. WHat I like is that its not a traditional angle/view you would use for a portrait. Lots of warmth in it.
