It's been longer than a month since my last post. No I hadn't been drawing, yes I had been studying hard and working on my tasks at work to get 'qualified'. Hopefully I'll have more time to draw more in the future, but I've already pre-decided that I am going to draw everyday when I retire...perhaps in 30 years time...hahahaha.
Here's something that I drew on my Moleskine sketchbook randomly off the images I googled. I used pretty much everything I have on my pencil case, pencils, graphic pens, colored inks, and color pencils. I am liking those grey inks ^^
I really like how you mixed the colors with the black and white drawing. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteThose eyes are beautifully haunting! Great sketch and it sounds like you had fun using everything in your pencil box.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sandy, her eyes are beautiful. Amazing work Alex, I really like this!
ReplyDeleteI love her eyes too.. and the way you rendered her hair: she looks so "present", so close ! Wonderful job, Alex and it's so good you could take some time for your art ! I confirm: retirement is great for drawing and painting ... when you don't lack inspiration ;.. and the second drawback : it proves you 're really getting old !!! (sigh !!)
ReplyDeleteCount me in, I love those eyes too... They are so deep and full of something that she has with in her, very mysterius (wonder what she is thinking about). Very nice drawing and its great to see you back posting again : )
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job, Alex! There is something so haunting about her, and I love the color accents on the grays. I want to draw like you when I grow up! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with the eyes and the use of black and white and colour comments...great Alex!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done - I love those eyes! And I'm only the 6th person to say that! (But I thought it up all by myself).
ReplyDeleteI love this drawing! I like the use of the all the tones with the splash of color .... I like the way you used the whole paper.... and I love the expression on her face with those splendid eyes! It's great to see your work again, Alex! nancy
ReplyDeleteShe is fantastic Alex. I think your drawings are so complex and "finished" that you can't sketch daily. And that works for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the grey inks, too. Beautiful, and very graphic!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteI like it! Wonderful work. Retirement sounds good to me too. I think I shall be around 95 when I am able to retire.
ReplyDeleteReally, really nice piece. Study at work but give yourself a few minutes a day to work on your drawings. Even if you only draw the eyes one day and a nose the next, you'll be amazed at how good you feel when you see the work slowly accumulate.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, sensitive drawing! Congratulations!
ReplyDeletevery captivating.
ReplyDeleteAlex,
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to see you again. What a wonderful sketch; I love the use of the grays with the bits of color and I too love the eyes.
xoxo

ReplyDeletePS I haven't been drawing much either! :(

ReplyDeleteWonderful work, Alex! She jumps right off the page at you! And those eyes.....
ReplyDeleteAlex this is wonderful. It seems like she knows something we don't know. Very beautifully done. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteFabulous "doodle" Alex.
ReplyDeleteThis is so excellent, Alex. It looks like you did use a little bit of everything. Like everyone else, I love her eyes, both the expression and the way you drew the reflections. She has such a tender expression.
ReplyDeleteWonderful work as usual! I like the mix colour/grey, it really draws attention to the details.
ReplyDeleteExciting sketch. I especially love the hair!
ReplyDeleteI really like this drawing, Alex. And I love how it's a mixed bag of media. Excellent. Thanks for your wonderful comments on my swan.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
It's a wonderful drawing. I haven't been around or making art for a while either. Good to see your terrific work here!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff! :D

ReplyDeleteVery intriging face etc---love your style here--YOu could make a Blurb book of your many good portraits---I'm sure you'd love it..
ReplyDeleteNice Drawing, Alex. I find myself curious about what kind of gray ink pens you are using?!
ReplyDeleteLove this, Alex! What a beautiful eyes...
ReplyDeleteI missed your posts, my friend! ;-)
WoW!!! Nice work Alex. You shouldn't stay away from it for so long!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely beautiful! And so creative - I like the way you put colors in only some parts, I love the lips (that expression!), and the eyes totally blow me away!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on getting qualified, but also remember that in 30 years, looking back, what would you regret not doing, and do it (in whatever time you can find)!
