This is a post long overdue. Been busy at work rushing complete things I needed to learn, and shift work is definitely wearing me off in such a away that it's almost impossible for me to draw after working 12-13hours. And on my days off I'd be running errands and was busy moving in and getting the essentials done. Along the way we celebrated my wife's birthday, bought some furniture, and then there's a car.
Yes I finally bought a car, my very first in the states, and I am really happy about it. Taking Betty's advice, I decided to sketch a part of it.
Why only a part and not the whole car? Hmmm... I ran out of space on my Moleskine, plus I also thought about having a little quiz. Open to all EDMers only, the first one to guess what car it is correctly(Make and Model), I'll send something nice(hand drawn) to your doorstep/mailbox. Yes, my very first giveaway! YAY! So only ONE guess allowed per person, unlimited comments and feedback allowed though ;) and it'll last until someone gets it right. I'll then contact you for your contacts and all.
I have absolutely no idea what car it is, but I really like the drawing;) Love the way you captured the headlight!
ReplyDeleteWOW, Alex, this is a seriously snazzy car! And what a gorgeous sketch . . . ya got mad skills! I am going to hazard a guess: I think it might be a Hyundai since they often have these gorgeous fluid lines. Close?
ReplyDeleteHi Alex, Beautiful sleek car and sketch to match. I know nothing of car'm akes or brands only the colours! Like Betty from Texas I am guessing....It might be a Mazda?
ReplyDeleteThank you for playing so far. I haven't got any perfect guesses yet, but it will only work if you guess both Make AND Model =) So Betty and Clare, you can definitely try again, but remember to guess the model as well. =)
ReplyDelete(Teehee...this is fun!)
I give up. I haven't been paying attention to cars lately - and didn't spot one like this in my first handful of tries - but boy is it gorgeous. The drawing, and the car. If no one's gotten it by this evening, maybe I'll try one more time.
ReplyDeleteOkay, Alex . . . I was afraid you'd pin me down on this :-) Elantra? That is my story and I am stickin' with it!!!
ReplyDeleteAwwww.... I thought it'd be harder than that. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, we have a winner! Betty got it right, it's a 2012 Hyundai Elantra.
This is way to quick, but all fun has to end.
Betty, just send me a yahoo message with your address, and hopefully I'll be able to send you something soon.
Thanks for playing everyone ^^
Gorgeous Sketch. I never would have guessed what make it was.
ReplyDeleteWell thank goodness betty got it. I found myself sneaking peaks at pictures of cars on my phone at work trying to figure it out and I might have gone mad!!!!! (I coveted your drawings). Anyway, this is an excellent drawing, as always - like from an auto manufacturer's brochure. It is so difficult to draw a car like this, I think, and you pull it off.
ReplyDeleteThats an amazing sketch, the shading and high lights are very well made. Im not a car person, and I see that you already told what the make was... I was going to say Fiat (had to throw out something car like : )
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about being busy and not having much time to sketch, but this is a Great Sketch Alex!!!
Nice to see you drawing again! I know nothing about cars beyond you turn the key and it's supposed to go :-) Great drawing!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't tell a Hyundai from a Chevy! It looks nice though and it's rather fun seeing only part of the car.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great drawing Alex and I think it's a silver colour?
ReplyDeleteI will go and study some cars to see if i can work out what it is :)
Pleased to see a post from you. Great drawing (as always!)and how wonderfully you have managed that difficult perspective - not to mention the shiny bodywork.......
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about cars so could not enter the give-away!
Beautiful car! I never would've guessed the make and model. I haven't driven in 10 years, so I don't pay enough attention to that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteWill you be taking a bit of a road trip?
I'm sorry I missed out on guessing, but I wouldn't have been right anyway. I was going to guess a Mazda Miata.
ReplyDeleteNice that Betty won. She is one lucky lady to get something of yours, Alex.
Love the sketch,
xoxo
Alex, I love it when you post one of your drawings! Your little Hyundai is lovely.
ReplyDeleteFantastic drawing! Whenever I try to draw a car it looks like it belongs to Mickey Mouse or Goofy. This is absolutely beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteNice looking car no matter what make!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely rendition, Alex! Headlight is super!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sketch, Alex!
ReplyDeleteI am late to try to guess the name of the car but I would have never guessed... I'm not an expert at all on this matter!
I admire the way you have reproduced the shiny, smooth surface of the body of the car, it looks so difficult to draw!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful drawing of your car. Couldn't have guessed it (I'm with Ann - you put in the key, turn it, and off you go). Betty is so impressive that she knew both the make and model! Well done, both of you!! nancy
ReplyDeleteAlex, love your drawings...and yes, only a portion of anything, I do like, then your imagination can fill in the rest...Hope you find time to draw and post often.... : )
ReplyDeleteNice drawing, Alex.
ReplyDeleteI don't know almost anything about cars but......I'll thing about it ;-)
Hello Alex,
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic drawing. Really well done. Shame I didn't see this earlier (I have a Hyundai Coupe - although that is no guarantee that I would have guessed it).
I think the whole drawing is better for being just a part of the car - great composition.
Stew
Just noticed...
ReplyDeleteLooking at your photo - aren't you too young to be driving?
Stew.
Awesome drawing - it seems like an awesome, flashy car, too! I can't recognize cars nor horses, and my daughter is always so ashamed for me... (I'm not, at all!) I see you have a more recent photo of yourself now - you still look great!
ReplyDeleteThat is one beautiful vehicle Alex. Sadly, I know about as much about cars as hippopotamus ailments, so I can't take part in your quiz :(
ReplyDeleteSue
Wonderful sketch, Alex. Makes me want to run my hand along the contours. Barbara
ReplyDeleteWow that was fast but at least it saves me the embarrassment of guessing something completely wrong! Congrats on the new car. It's beautiful...as is your sketch of it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment earlier. I'm glad to be back. I'm in Houston though, we didn't go to Idaho after all. I'm not giving up hope that one day in the future....
wow, the reflection on the headlight is amazing. I find it hard to get glass reflection right. well done!
ReplyDeleteLovely car Alex, sorry I missed this. Not even going to guess the make...no cars where I live and haven't watched Top Gear for ages!
ReplyDeleteNow I've just read the comments. Well done Betty!
ReplyDeleteAlex, I'm so glad things are going well for you although a very busy time! Your art is always thought filled and expressive...a delight to view!
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice angle and a good drawing. It does spark a bit of curiosity to find out what car it really is. In any case, congrats on buying that vehicle. It's your first one in the states and it's looking good.
