KaQin Turning 4

I had been sketching KaRyn, my baby niece who's turning 1 soon, and I almost forgot that I have not been doing the same for my older niece KaQin.
She's turning 4 in a month time, and I could totally see how much she grew since the last time I drew her 2.5 years ago. This is how she looks now:-
(Moleskine Sketchbook 3.5x5.5")

And these are the sketches of her I did of her 2.5 years ago. Time sure flies and kids grow so fast!

Thank you everyone for your time and comments. I do not have time to reply all comments, but when I do find the time, I'll get back to them.

  2. Oh Alex, these are amazing and super cute sketches and yes, they grow up far too fast... It feels like was yesterday I held my two little once in my arms, and now I have to stand on phone books to talk to them (this is when its serious talk, lol)...
    Where does the time go.

I love it how you left the colours to only few small areas, it all works so well and draws/focus your eyes to hers. Such a cute girl!!!

Thank you so much for all your past comments in my blog : )

  7. You have done a fantastic job of capturing her progression from a cute, little baby into a beautiful young lady.
Fast!! My oldest just turned 30 and my youngest 18. I didn't think I could be that old!!

  8. These are the most amazing portraits, Alex!!! They should all be hung in a gallery, to keep a record of how these adorable children change as they (quickly!!!) grow.

Your work is beautiful! You are a master portraitist, and I should know :-)

  17. I love your new sketch - I saw this post by the way several days ago, but I was at work and on my cell and never want to comment with just a couple words. It deserves more. I have tried to draw my niece who is 2 and it is mighty hard - mighty hard. So I am all the more impressed because I know just how difficult it is.

It's a beautiful portrait - she is assertive and has a lot of personality.
